How do i know i am saved
How Do I Know I Am Saved? WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO "BELIEVE IN" OR "RECEIVE" JESUS? "...whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.' Jn. 3:16 Believing in Jesus is hearing His life giving Word and accepting He was sent by God to save us from our hopeless, sinful condition through His sacrificial death and resurrection.27 It is more than just knowing about Jesus, as it includes following Him and walking in a new life.28 Such a belief brings a desire to be like Jesus and live like Him, albeit imperfectly.29 This faith in Jesus' work causes us also to hope in Him for our eternal perfection/glorification at His appearing.30 Thus, we "hold firm" to His Gospel or "Good News," trusting in Jesus, and not ourselves, for eternal life.31 This belief is not without doubt or failings,32 but it will endure life's hardships and overcome Satan's schemes by faith in Christ.33 WHAT IS REPENTANCE? "Repent therefore and Ibe converted...". - Acts. 3:19 Repentance is our first step in responding to Christ's gift of salvation for the forgiveness of sins.34 This evidence of our faith reveals our changed mind regarding sin and frees us to live for God.35 Repentance is not merely intellectual or simple behavior modification from guilt but is a desire from God's Spirit that moves us to forsake sin and to please Him without regret.36 repentance is not only a response at salvation but is also a regular action in a believer's spiritual life as they are convicted of sin and desire right relationships with God and man.37 Christ calls all to repent and receive the forgiveness of sin,38 but the unregenerate will continually reject this call and not desire repentance.3927 Jn. 5:24, 6:63, 17:3; Heb. 7:25-28, Rom. 10:9 28 Jas. 2: 19, Jn. 3:3-5, Lk. 923-24 29 1Jn. 1:46 30 Rom. 8:23-30 31 1 Cor. 15:2-4, Jn 6:40, Titus 3:5 32 Matt 11:3, 26:34; Gal. 2:11-20; 1 Jn. 2:1-2 3 Prov. 24:16, Malt, 13:22, 1 Jn, 2:19, 1 Tim. 6:20-21, Rey. 12:11 " Mk. 1:15, Lk.13:1-5, 24:47, Acts 2:38, 3:19, 11:17-18, Rom. 2:4, 2 Pet 3:9 3 Matt. 21:28-32, Rom. 6: 1-6 36.2 Cor. 7:10, 1 Thess. 1.9 3 Ezk 146, 18:30; Lk 3:8, 17:3 -4;, Acts 26.20; Rev 2:5, 2:16, 2:21-22, 3:3, 3:19 38 Acts 17:30, 2 Peter 3:9 9 Acts 17:30, 2 Peter 3.9, Jer. $:3; Rom. 2:5, Rev. 3:21, 921, 16:11
WHAT DOES iT MEAN TO HAVE JESUS IN US?
“Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in yon…?”- 2 Cor, 13:5
Having Jesus “in us” simply means that His Promised Holy Spirit lives in those who believe.40 The Spirit gives believers a new mind, helping them Understand the Truth of Christ and our need for Him41 The Holy Spirit convicts men of their sin nature, helps Believers to forsake sin, and assures believers of their Salvation in Christ so they can approach God with Confidence rather than fear of judgment.42 Thus, the Spirit is an essential proof of saving faith in Christ.43 Unfortunately, some have twisted Scripture to tie The evidence of the Spirit to misused “signs” not Intended for every believer (such as speaking in Tongues)44 Solid, Biblical evidences of the Spirit in a Believer are the fruit of the Spirit,45 gifts from the Spirit to serve others,46 the cry of sonship,47 the hope Of eternal glory with Christ,48 a wrestling with the Fleshly sin nature,49 conviction and discipline from Sin,50 the understanding of God’s Truth, 51 and the Possession of Christ’s peace, love and joy.52 Though We are given the Spirit when we are born again, we Are charged as believers to maintain our relationship With Christ in the Spirit by being filled with and being Led by the Spirit.53
Believers may grieve the Spirit within them, yet He Will never forsake them since He is an unearned gift That is set as an eternal seal upon them until His work Is complete at their redemption.54 Thus, the Spirit is a Guarantee of our redemption to resurrect our mortal Bodies to immortality at Christ’s appearing.55
